Featured Fitness Content: Volume 129

Howdy partners, I’m wrapping up some loose ends and getting ready to head to Philadelphia for the annual Ben to the Shore Bike Tour. This event is one of the charity events that I try to do every year to gauge my personal level of fitness, while also taking part in a very good cause.

On last year’s tour I raised the stakes by bringing along my pitbull, Kronos, who became the first dog to complete the tour.

You can read more about last year’s tour here.

This year, I’m leaving Kronos at home in an attempt to make it to the front of the pack. Last year had 1,341 riders on the full 65-mile course, of which I placed 734 overall–with pitbull in tow. This year I’m vying for a top 25 spot, while attempting to raise 1,000 for the Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation.

My antics landed me a front page spot on the July 14th edition of the Pottsville Republican.

If you are interested in supporting the Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation and my efforts, you can donate directly to the foundation through my rider participant page.

Taken directly from the Tour’s Website, the purpose of the Ben to the Shore Bike Tour:

The Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation (FBBCF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit committed to improving the lives of children in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey area. We achieve this by providing necessary financial relief for the families of fallen or critically injured first responders (police officers, firefighters, EMTs) and cultivating positive relationships and interactions between police officers and the children in the communities they serve.

Again, I’d love your help in supporting these good folks.
