Ruthless Performance Swimmers Making Headlines

Of the swimmers that train at Ruthless Performance, two had record-setting performances at the Schuylkill League Swimming Championships. Additionally, the Pottsville Area Boys took home gold in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay. All of the PAHS swimmers participate in poolside dryland training with Ruthless Performance, but two of the boys–Zach Ott and Noah Bevan do additional training with us at the facility.

SWIMMING: Eagles’ Magdeburg has record-setting day by Leroy Boyer via Republican Herald

Magdeburg broke the meet, league and pool record in the 50-yard freestyle and the meet, league and area standard in the 50 butterfly at the Schuylkill League Swimming Championships at Pottsville’s Ned Hampford Natatorium.

SWIMMING: Mahanoy’s Hillibush breaks breaststroke mark by Leroy Boyer via Republican Herald

Hillibush won the 50 breaststroke in 27.11 seconds, shattering a 26-year-old meet, league and area record of 28.65 set in 1997 by Schuylkill Haven’s Josh Esposito. It was the oldest-standing record on the Schuylkill League books.

Later, Hillibush stormed to victory in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.10, breaking Kris Boxter’s school-record time of 1:00.49.

The key has been consistency and hard work. Last year was my first year doing the YMCA swim team and I think that helped me out a lot. Another key was going to Pottsville and training at Ruthless Performance for the past two years. This year I also had to sacrifice not playing football to swim all year long and I feel like that tough decision is finally paying off.
